Origin Natural History Media is an award-winning partnership specialising in words and images about the natural world, science, the environment and adventure travel. We both work from our home base at Makara Beach, within cooee of Wellington city, the capital of New Zealand. We free-lance, and take commissions. Dave's photos and writing regularly impress the judges at the Qantas Media and New Zealand Travel Communicators' annual awards, and he was a Travcom runner up again this year (2007). |
 Dave has won Travcom's top awards for both writers and photographers - in 2001 and 2003 respectively. In 2002, he was a double finalist - runner up in 'Travel Photographer of the Year' and highly commended for a story about tramping in the Tararua Ranges, near Wellington. It was a big year overall, as he was also a finalist in the Qantas Media Awards. In 2001, Marieke also won a Travcom writer's award - about being on safari in Tanzania. We are slowly building our on-line Photo Gallery. The category headings reflect what is in our photo library of more than 3500 digital images, and there are slides still to be scanned.
