Grey Moray 3 |
Description
GREY MORAY 3. 11/94. A grey moray (Gymnothorax nubilus) at Middle Arch, Poor Knights Islands Marine Reserve, off the north-east coast of Northland, New Zealand. The grey moray is the smallest and slightest of New Zealand morays, averaging 40-60 cm in length. It is common around the islands of the north-east coast and the Bay of Plenty, and are especially abundant at the Poor Knights. They tend to spend more time in the open than other morays, which keep to their holes in daylight.
